The NHL has announced Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard, Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber and New Jersey Devils defenseman Luke Hughes as the finalists for the Calder Trophy.

The trophy is awarded to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition. Bedard, who was the first pick of the 2023 draft, scored 22 goals and led the team with 61 points in 68 games played. Faber, a second round pick in 2020, finished with eight goals and 39 assists for 47 points. Hughes, a first rounder in 2021, recorded nine goals and 38 assists for 47 points.

If he wins the award, Faber would join Kirill Kaprizov (2020-21) as the only players in Wild franchise history to win the Calder.

Seattle's Matty Beniers won the Calder Trophy last season.
